Please congratulate Natallya Hyldahl, from the Teller County Sheriff’s Office, for being recognized as Telecommunicator of the 4th Quarter!

On November 1, 2025, Telecommunicator Natallya Hyldahl handled a 9-1-1 call from two hikers near Devil’s Playground on Pikes Peak after their friend collapsed on a remote trail.

Using precise location tools and Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Natallya quickly pinpointed the patient’s location and began medical instructions. When the patient became unresponsive and stopped breathing effectively, she calmly guided the callers through CPR, coaching them through more than an hour and over 3,500 life-saving chest compressions while responders worked to reach the scene nearly four miles down the trail.

Despite being 13 hours into her shift, Natallya remained calm, focused, and compassionate, keeping the callers engaged and reassured during an incredibly stressful situation. Thanks to her dedication and composure, five responding agencies were able to locate the patient and successfully life-flight him to the hospital.

What makes this call even more remarkable? It happened the day after Natallya was released from training. With just one day on her own, she demonstrated the skill, confidence, and strength of a seasoned professional.

Great job Natallya!
